In the face of former World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev’s comments about arrogance within the current Indian cricket team, Ravindra Jadeja, the talented all-rounder, took a determined stance and passionately refuted any claims of arrogance among his fellow cricketers.

In a recent interview with The Week magazine, Kapil had expressed his concerns, attributing the perceived arrogance to the influx of money in the sport, especially through the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL). According to the 64-year-old, the modern-day cricketers seemed to have become arrogant, believing they know everything due to their financial success.

Ravindra Jadeja responds in a straightforward manner:

At a press conference ahead of the third ODI against West Indies, the southpaw was asked for his views on Kapil’s remarks.

“I didn’t know when he said this. I don’t search too many things on social media. Everyone has their own opinion. It’s nothing like that,” the Navagam-born cricketer said to the reporters.

Continuing his response to Chandigarh-born cricketer comments, Jadeja further stated that these comments tend to surface primarily when the Indian cricket team faces defeats or setbacks. The 34-year-old emphasized that every player in the Indian dressing room takes immense pride in representing the nation and understands the responsibility that comes with wearing the Indian jersey.

“Everyone is enjoying their cricket and they are all hard working. No one has taken anything for granted. They are giving their 100 per cent. Such comments generally come when Indian team lost a match. This is a good bunch of boys and this is a good group. We are representing India and that is our main aim. There is no personal agenda,” Jadeja concluded.

Speaking of the three-match ODI series, the final fixture between West and Indies will be played on Tuesday (August 1) at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad. In the second ODI, India faced a disappointing 6-wicket loss – a defeat that was accentuated by the absence of senior stars Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
