Afghanistan’s star cricketer Rashid Khan was seen sweating hard ahead of the three-match ODI series against Pakistan in Sri Lanka. However, he failed to contribute much with the bat in the opening game of the leg and was dismissed for a duck.  It is worth mentioning that the first ODI between Afghanistan and Pakistan took place on August 22 with the Afghan side suffering an embarrassing defeat at the hands of Green Men. Although Afghanistan will be disappointed with their disastrous performance, the remaining two matches will serve as a perfect opportunity for them to prepare for the upcoming Asia Cup and work on their shortcomings prior to the event.

Despite Rashid’s average outing with the bat in the first ODI, the Afghanistan team will still be much dependent on his performance in the remaining two games. The spinner has been in great form over the past years and has the ability to trouble the Pakistan batters with his variations. Moreover, his transition into an all-rounder has also merged as an added advantage for the Afghan side in the recent times. The 24-year-old has proved his mettle in the batting department on many occasions and has made his name as an unorthodox power hitter. Afghanistan will surely be expecting their star performer to regain his form in the upcoming games

Rashid is very active on social media and he had recently shared his batting montage from a practice session before the opening match against Pakistan on his official Instagram handle. The Afghanistan cricketer in the clip was seen playing brilliant strokes and smashing the ball all over the park. He even hammered a no-look six during the training that caught the eye of India’s batter Suryakumar Yadav.

The funny banter between Rashid Khan and Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar, who himself is known for hitting out-of-the-box cricketing shots, was amazed by Rashid’s no-look stroke and left a cheeky appreciation comment on his video. The World No. 1 T20I batter expressed his desire to take training from Rashid for the no-look shot.

“Spending my Sunday in my fav spot,” Rashid captioned his video.

“Ye no look wale shot ki training leni padegi (Will have to take training for this no-look shot),” commented Suryakumar.

However, Rashid was quick to respond and came up with an epic reply for Suryakumar.

“@surya_14kumar yeh Supla Shot master bol rahe hai (This is coming from Supla Shot master).” wrote Rashid.

On the work front, Suryakumar was included in India’s Asia Cup 2023 squad on Monday (August 21). Although the right-handed batter’s stats in the ODI format are below-average, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) bestowed trust in him and preferred him over Sanju Samson, who has been added as a travelling reserve in the team.
