After a highly disappointing abandoned match against Pakistan, India are taking on Nepal in their second game of the Asia Cup 2023 at Pallekele. The game is crucial for the Men in Blue, as a win in this match will cement their position in the Super 4 stage of the tournament.
Star Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who has made his comeback to the national side after almost an year, will miss out on the game as he is blessed with a baby boy. Bumrah announced the news by a post on his social media handles.
On this auspicious occasion, the 29-year-old pacer headed back to Mumbai to his wife, Sanjana Ganesan. Bumrah made his comeback to the national side after a long span of time as he suffered a critical back injury and missed the IPL 2023 as well. He led the Indian side on the successful T20I tour of Ireland in August, where the team performed remarkably under his leadership as India wiped out the hosts by a margin of 2-0. He possesses excellent One-Day match stats, as the right-handed pacer has 121 wickets to his name in the 73 ODIs he has played so far with an excellent economy rate of 4.64.
Our little family has grown & our hearts are fuller than we could ever imagine! This morning we welcomed our little boy, Angad Jasprit Bumrah into the world. We are over the moon and can’t wait for everything this new chapter of our lives brings with it ❤️ – Jasprit and Sanjana pic.twitter.com/j3RFOSpB8Q

India kicked off their Asia Cup 2023 campaign against Pakistan on Saturday at Pallekele, where India put on a total of 266 runs as Ishan Kishan (82) and Hardik Pandya (87) shined, but the match was abandoned due to heavy rainfall, and both teams got one point each.
Bumrah’s comeback to the national side before the upcoming ODI World Cup is welcome news for India, as he is one of the key bowlers for the side and a lot will rely on his shoulders to frame India’s campaign in the ODI World Cup 2023.
