The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has released an official statement that has cast a shadow of uncertainty over fast bowler Naseem Shah‘s involvement in the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023. The cricketing world is closely monitoring the situation, and fans are anxious about the potential absence of this promising young talent from Pakistan’s World Cup squad.
Naseem, known for his remarkable pace and ability to extract bounce from pitches, has been a crucial asset to Pakistan’s bowling attack. However, his fitness concerns have put his participation in the ODI World Cup 2023 in doubt, leaving the cricket community in suspense.
PCB’s update on Naseen Shah’s injury
The PCB’s official statement revealed that Pakistan’s medical team is currently monitoring the status of Naseem Shah’s shoulder injury sustained during the Super 4 clash against India at the Asia Cup 2023.
“Medical consultations with the experts are underway to provide the best possible care to Naseem,” stated the Pakistan cricket board.
“The PCB medical panel will decide on the fast bowler’s return to cricket based on further assessments,” it added.

Naseem’s remarkable debut in international cricket, where he achieved a sensational hat-trick against Bangladesh as a teenager, earned him widespread acclaim. His consistent speed and ability to move the ball have drawn comparisons to legendary fast bowlers of the past.
Also, the PCB has not ruled out the possibility of naming a replacement if Naseem is declared unfit for the World Cup. As the event’s commencement approaches, the board will closely assess his medical condition and announce the back up player if the need arise.
Although Nassem was replaced by Zaman Khan in the ongoing Asia Cup, Pakistan failed to make it to the final, scheduled for Sunday (September 17) between India and Sri Lanka.
