Nevertheless, the former Australian captain showed grit and determination when he stepped onto the field in Rajkot. He accomplished a remarkable half-century in just 43 balls and was looking set to cruise further. However, his innings came to an end when he fell victim to Mohammed Siraj‘s LBW appeal, scoring 74 runs off 61 deliveries.

Meanwhile, Kohli made his return to the Indian side in Rajkot, along with skipper Rohit Sharma and Kuldeep Yadav. The trio had been rested for the first two ODIs in Mohali and Indore, where the hosts secured victories by 5 wickets and 99 runs (via DLS) respectively.
