Virat Kohli-led India easily defeated Kane Williamson’s New Zealand side by seven wickets in the third ODI at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on Monday.
With the win, Men in Blue have claimed their first series win in New Zealand since 2009. The visitors first restricted the hosts to 243 and then easily chased down the target inside 43 overs.
Rohit Sharma and captain Kohli scored half-centuries as they took India to a comfortable position in the run-chase. Kohli’s gritty knock was laced with 6 fours and one six.
In the 26th over of second innings, Kohli completed his fifty with a nudge to long on, off the bowling of Mitchell Santner. It was yet another important contribution from Kohli during a run-chase.
Virat’s wife – Anushka Sharma, who was present in the stadium along with Dipika Pallikal and Smriti Mandhana stood up to applaud Kohli’s efforts when he reached his fifty.
