IPL 2019: Lasith Malinga finally reunites with the Mumbai Indians camp

After Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) granted Lasith Malinga permission to feature in IPL 2019 on 26th March, the pacer finally arrived in Bengaluru on Wednesday. Malinga has been one of the most successful bowlers in IPL with a total of 154 wickets. Currently, he is also the ODI captain of the Sri Lankan cricket team.

Earlier this week, Malinga was ruled out for the first 6 matches of the season due to clash with Super Provincial One-Day domestic tournament in Sri Lanka. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had to intervene to get the fast-bowler released from participating in the Super Provincial tournament.

Organized by SLC, the Super Provincial One-Day domestic tournament is scheduled from April 4th to April 11th with the primary focus on team selection for the ICC World Cup. SLC announced that players had to compete in the tournament to be eligible for the World Cup team selection. But SLC agreed to make an exception for Malinga.

The Mumbai Indians team is all set to face Royal Challengers Banglore on Thursday for their second match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Both teams will be looking for their first victory of this season.
