Karthik made his ODI debut in 2004 and is playing his second World Cup tournament. It was a hard decision for the captain and the management, selecting Dinesh over young Rishabh Pant for the 15 member World Cup squad.
During an interview earlier this month, Indian skipper Virat Kohli explained the reason behind picking Karthik. “In pressure situations, he’s shown composure. It was something that everybody on board was convinced about.”, told Virat.
Karthik expressed his excitement on his selection by posting a video on social media and thanked his fans and management in believing in him.
