Rocky Ponting names 3 top fielders of all-time

Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting is highly regarded as one of the greatest batsmen of all time. He is the most successful captain in the history of cricket, having a 67.90% winning ratio in the international circuit. Not only in batting and captaincy, but the 45-year-old is also reckoned as one of the best fielders of the game.

Post-retirement, Ponting has taken up the responsibility of coaching various teams and passing his wisdom on air. The Launceston-born is currently the coach of IPL franchise Delhi Capitals (DC).

On Monday, Ponting interacted with his Twitter followers and asked them to drop questions. Several fans posted their queries, and the Aussie cricketer reflected his thoughts on various topics.

One Twitter user asked Ponting to share who, according to him, are the top three fielders of all time.

The cricketer-turned-commentator named his former team-mate Andrew Symonds, along with two South Africans; AB de Villiers and Jonty Rhodes.

“Andrew Symonds, AB de Villiers, Jonty Rhodes,” tweeted Ponting.

The right-handed batsman is the third leading run-scorer in ‘most runs in a career’ list. In 560 international matches, Ponting scored 27,483 runs. He is only behind Sachin Tendulkar (34,357) and Kumar Sangakkara (28,016).
