Wasim Jaffer picks his fab-five across all formats

Amid coronavirus pandemic, many countries are facing lockdown, and due to it, several cricketers are heading towards social media platforms to interact with their fans. In the process, cricketers like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Kevin Pietersen, Yuzvendra Chahal have participated in several chat sessions to talk with their fans and followers. Now, former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer has also joined the elite club.

On Wednesday, Jaffer was spotted in an Instagram chat session organised by Crictracker where he responded to quite a few queries. During the session, the 42-year-old was asked to name fab-five across all formats.

Jaffer picked four batsmen from the current fab-four – a list consists of Steve Smith, Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson, and Joe Root. For the fifth place, the Mumbai-born cricketer went with talented Pakistan batsman Babar Azam.

Smith is currently the number one ranked Test batsman while Kohli tops the chart in ODI format. Babar, on the other hand, has captured the top spot in T20 internationals.

England’s captain Root is the highest run-scorer in the fab-four batting list. He has so far amassed 7599 runs in 92 games with 17 hundreds and 48 half-centuries while New Zealand’s skipper Kane Williamson is the second-highest run-scorer in ODIs after Kohli. The Kiwi batsman has clubbed 6173 runs in 151 matches with 13 tons and 39 fifties.

Recently, Jaffer revealed his all-time ODI XI featuring players like Sachin Tendulkar, Viv Richards, Glenn McGrath and Wasim Akram.

The former West Zone cricketer made MS Dhoni his skipper. Amongst modern-day cricketers, Jaffer picked Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ben Stokes and AB de Villiers.
