The 14th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to resume in the United Arab Emirates on Sunday (September 18) after its postponement in May due to the rising cases of COVID-19 in India.
All eight teams will now play the remaining 31 matches of IPL 2021 in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. The summit clash takes place on October 15 – two days before the scheduled start of ICC men’s T20 World Cup 2021.
As the league is tightly preceding the global T20 tournament, several foreign players have opted out of the remainder of IPL 2021 to remain fresh for national commitments, leaving franchisees to rope in replacements.
