Arjun Tendulkar, son of legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar, recently conducted a Question and Answer session on his official Instagram handle where he answered many interesting questions.
One of the interesting queries that Arjun faced was to pick his favourite Mumbai Indians (MI) player. The junior Tendulkar, who was picked by the Rohit Sharma-led MI franchise in the 2021 IPL auctions, responded to the question and named speedster Jasprit Bumrah as his choice.
Notably, Arjun’s name popped up in the players’ auction of IPL 2021, where the Mumbai-based franchise roped him at his base price of INR 20 lakh. However, the fast-bowling all-rounder hasn’t yet played a single game in the cash-rich league.
Speaking about Bumrah, he was retained by MI ahead of the upcoming IPL 2022 mega auctions for INR 12 crores. Apart from the paceman, the five-time champions had also retained captain Rohit Sharma for INR 16 crore, middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav for INR 8 crore and West Indies’ star all-rounder Kieron Pollard for INR 6 crore.
Notably, Bumrah has appeared for MI in 106 matches and has taken as many as 130 wickets in the lucrative league at an average of 23.03 and an economy rate of 7.41.
Overall, Bumrah is the tenth highest wicket-taker in the history of IPL and seventh amongst Indian bowlers.
The Ahmedabad-born has been rested for India’s upcoming white-ball series against the West Indies that is set to begin on February 6 2022. This limited-overs series against West Indies consists of three ODIs and as many T20I matches.
