In the second match of ongoing IPL 2022, Delhi Capitals (DC) pulled off an amazing chase against Mumbai Indians (MI) despite losing their top three wickets inside the powerplay overs.
The Capitals needed 75 runs off 42 balls when Shardul Thakur departed after playing a cameo of 22 (11). But they weren’t done yet as Lalit Yadav (48 not out off 38) and Axar Patel (38 not out off 17) propelled them to the finish line in 18.2 overs with 4 wickets in hand.
Opening batter Tim Seifert scored only 21 off 14 balls, but his flying catch during the first innings grabbed everyone’s attention.
The New Zealand international grabbed a beauty to send back the dangerous Kieron Pollard. It all happened on the fifth ball of the 16th over when DC spinner Kuldeep Yadav deceived Pollard with a faster one. The MI all-rounder played a flat shot, and Seifert, standing inside the ring at mid-wicket, flew to his left and caught the ball with much aplomb.
