Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) ‘s new recruit, Dinesh Karthik, is in the form of his life in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Karthik displayed his attacking avatar yet again in Match 27 against Delhi Capitals (DC) at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on Saturday.
Karthik, who began his journey in international cricket way back in 2004, has not put a foot wrong in the fifteenth season, playing some of the finest knocks for RCB, who roped him for INR 5.5 crore in the auction held earlier this year.
RCB’s latest finisher gave a glimpse of his outstanding form with a blistering 34-ball 66, helping RCB to register a sensational 16-run win over DC to reach the third spot in the points table.
After the impressive win against the Rishabh Pant-led side, Karthik, who won the ‘Player of the Match’ award, revealed his ambitions. The Tamil Nadu cricketer mentioned that he is trying everything to stage a comeback into the Indian team.
”I must admit that I have a bigger goal. I have been working really hard. My aim is to do something special for the country. This is part of my journey. I have been trying everything to be a part of the Indian team,” said Karthik in the post-match presentation.
Notably, Karthik’s ability to stay calm in the slog overs has helped him perform in crunch situations, and he admitted that it all happened due to his preparations.
“It’s good to know people associate calmness with me. Generally, they say I am a little restless. I must admit positions and calmness come from preparation. When you know how you are going to go about an innings, it gives you a chance to be calm. Apart from that, trying to stay in the moment even though it sounds a little cliched. It is very important for my batting,” added Karthik.
