MS Dhoni may not be the captain of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, but there is no denying that he is providing all his inputs and making the job easy for Ravindra Jadeja.

Dhoni, who is undoubtedly the sharpest mind in the game, always assist Jadeja from behind the stumps, especially in setting up the field. The Ranchi-born cricketer once again gave a glimpse of his street smartness as he plotted the wicket of Virat Kohli during the Southern derby clash between CSK and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai on Tuesday.

Chasing a massive target of 217, the Challengers lost captain Faf du Plessis early, so the responsibility to take his team out of hot waters was on Kohli’s shoulders. When CSK pacer Mukesh Choudhary was about to start the 5th over of second innings, Dhoni asked the fine-leg fielder to move to his left in the deep square-leg region.

Mukesh bowled exactly as planned and delivered a short one to Kohli. The former RCB skipper came down the track and pulled the ball straight down towards the deep square-leg fielder. Shivam Dube, fielding in that area, made no mistake and took a sharp catch to cut short Kohli’s stay in the middle.

A video of Dhoni’s masterclass move quickly went viral on social media. Many fans appreciated MSD for his brilliance.

RCB did come close to the target but eventually fell short by 23 runs. With the win, CSK opened their account in the points table of IPL 2022. Robin Uthappa (88) and Dube (95) shined with the willow, helping the yellow army to post a daunting 216/4 in their stipulated 20 overs.
