Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) pacer Umran Malik, who has delivered the fastest ball in IPL 2022 so far, shattered the wickets of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Shreyas Iyer in Match 25 of IPL 2022.

As soon as Malik cleaned up Iyer, SRH’s fast bowling coach Dale Steyn jumped off his seat and celebrated the wicket by giving a high 5 to spin bowling coach Muttiah Muralitharan.

The incident happened on the final ball of the 10th over. Iyer moved across to make room for playing a shot through the offside. Malik tracked Iyer’s movement and bowled a fiery yorker that went on to hit the stumps like a tracer bullet.

Talking about the result of the contest, SRH beat KKR by seven wickets to register their third consecutive win of the season.

Batting first, the Iyer-led side posted 175/8 on the board in their 20 overs. Nitish Rana (54 off 36) and Andre Russell (49 not off 25) were the main contributors with the bat for KKR.

In reply, SRH chased the set target in 17.5 overs, with Aiden Markram (68 not out off 36) finishing off in style with back to back sixes. Rahul Tripathi (71 off 37) set the tone of the chase for SRH by completing his half-century in quick time.

SRH’s T Natarajan was the leading wicket-taker of the match with three scalps for 37.
