David Miller exhibited his vintage ‘finisher avatar’ for Gujarat Titans (GT) in a nail-biting Qualifier 1 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Eden Gardens on Tuesday. The South African superstar smashed three back-to-back sixes against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the final over of the match to take Gujarat to the final in the fifteenth season.

After the game, Miller, who remained unbeaten at 68 off just 38 balls, revealed that he was extremely nervous during the chase, but it was his captain Hardik Pandya who calmed him down and helped him to script a match-winning knock.

“I was a little bit nervous, to be honest. But Hardik kept saying that let’s play good cricket shots and keep hitting the ball in the gaps. As you saw that he wasn’t running too fast. For me, I enjoy my running between the wickets pretty hard, I mean, it ended up working out pretty well,” said Miller in the post-match presentation.

Explaining his approach in the final stages of the chase, Miller said that he wanted to hit the ball as hard as he could and wanted to execute the plans perfectly.

“If it’s in the V, it’s in the tree. If it is in the arc, it’s out of the park! There’s been a lot of people going wide outside off stump, so I decided to step that side. I knew they had a certain plan. You got to control what you can. You can’t think too much ahead and what will happen. You need to concentrate on your breathing, and if it’s in your area, you have to do it,” added Miller.
