Gujarat Titans (GT) and Mumbai Indians (MI), on Friday, engaged in a thrilling game in Pune where MI held their nerves to win the contest by five runs. Though Daniel Sams – who defended 9 runs in the final over – grabbed all the attention, there was another moment that captured fan’s eyes.

During GT’s chase, their aspiring batter Sai Sudharsan got dismissed in an unfortunate manner. Sudarshan got out hit wicket on a slower delivery from MI all-rounder Kieron Pollard.

The batter went for a pull shot but missed the ball completely. He lost his balance with the bat falling over the stumps. The left-hander departed for an 11-ball 14.

In the match, Gujarat were right on the track, with Shubman Gill (52) and Wriddhiman Saha (55) giving their side a solid start. The duo formed a dominating 106-run opening stand to keep their side alive in the chase.

However, Mumbai came back into the game and dismissed both openers before picking a couple of more wickets. GT needed nine runs off the final six balls, but Sams only conceded three runs to win the game for his team.

“It was pretty tight towards the back end. Very satisfying, something we were looking for all this while. Luck has to turn at some stage, we’ll take that win with both hands. Credit to everyone. Sams was under the pump in a couple of games, but I know the quality he has. It’s important to back those guys. We are trying to maintain the same squad how much ever possible. Daniel Sams was brilliant,” said MI skipper Rohit Sharma after the thrilling encounter.
