Virat Kohli scored a brilliant unbeaten 62 as India cruised to a 56-run victory over the Netherlands in the 23rd match of the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

After his magnificent 82 not out against Pakistan, Kohli timed his knock to perfection again at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) as he added a 73-run partnership with captain Rohit Sharma and an unbroken stand of 95 runs with Suryakumar Yadav.

Along with Kohli’s excellence, Suryakumar gave India supporters much more to cheer with his breathtaking knock. A huge six from the last ball of the first innings took him to a 25-ball half-century as India posted 179-2 in their allotted overs.

Kohli shocks everyone with a six over extra cover

Kohli raced to his fifty with a stunning six over extra cover off the Dutch pacer Fred Klaassen. The former India skipper smoked the incredible six in the 17th over. With the left-arm quick Klaassen bowling round the wicket, Kohli gave himself a little bit of room and smacked the ball over deep cover for a maximum. The next ball, he drove through the covers and completed his second consecutive half-century in the tournament.

Here’s the video:

Defending 179, India seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar started with a maiden and followed it up with a wicket-maiden. The Netherlands chase faltered from there on. Bhuvneshwar finished with 2-9 from three overs.

Left-armer pacer Arshdeep Singh and spinners – Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel also picked up two wickets apiece as the Netherlands could only manage 123-9 in their 20 overs.

For his quick-fire 51, Suryakumar was adjudged the ‘Player of the Match’.
