Former India all-rounder Suresh Raina is set to make his comeback on the field as he has signed up for Deccan Gladiators to play in the upcoming season of the Abu Dhabi T10 League 2022.

Notably, earlier this year, Raina had announced his retirement from all forms of the game, which made him eligible to play for the foreign T20 tournaments. The white-ball legend will now join the likes of Andre Russell, Nicholas Pooran, Jason Roy, Taskin Ahmed, Odean Smith, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman at Deccan Gladiators.

The upcoming edition of the T10 league will start on November 23, with all matches set to take place at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

The eight-team competition will go on for nearly two weeks, with the final to be played on December 4. Not to mention, this year’s edition will be the sixth season of the tournament, which began in 2017.

“World Cup winner @ImRaina has signed for the @TeamDGladiators One of India’s all-time finest white-ball players, Raina, will line up in the #AbuDhabiT10 for the first time, and we can’t wait,” the T10 League wrote on Twitter.

Despite being one of the greatest players in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Raina went unsold in the 2022 IPL mega auction after being released by Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Raina was a part of CSK’s title-winning squad in the 2021 season of the cash-rich league.

Raina was recently spotted playing for the India Legends in the Road Safety World Series. Since BCCI rules do not allow Indian players to play overseas leagues, it was essential for Raina to retire in order to represent foreign franchises.

Raina has stunning numbers in IPL, having scored 5528 runs in 205 matches at a strike rate of 136.73, with the help of one hundred and 39 half-centuries.
