After the conclusion of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 in Melbourne on Sunday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the ‘Team of the Tournament.’
In the grand finale, England defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
Four members from England’s T20 WC winning squad have been named in the final eleven, including ‘Player of the Tournament’ Sam Curran, captain Jos Buttler, his opening partner Alex Hales and right-arm pacer Mark Wood.
The team also features two batters from Group 2 table topper India – Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav.
Kohli finished the global competition with 296 runs in 6 matches at a mind-boggling average of 98.66 and highest score of 82. Similarly, Suryakumar amassed 239 runs in 6 games at a scintillating strike rate of 189.68.
Apart from the above-mentioned six stars, two Pakistani players made it to the starting XI, while one each from New Zealand, Zimbabwe and South Africa also got a place in the ICC Team of the Tournament.
India all-rounder Hardik Pandya was picked as the 12th man by the commentary panel and the assigned experts of the game.
