Ever since former skipper MS Dhoni bid farewell to international cricket, the wicketkeeper position in Team India hasn’t been fixed, especially in the limited-overs format. Not long ago, Rishabh Pant was India’s preferred choice, but his poor form has opened the gates for other contenders, such as veteran Dinesh Karthik and explosive batters Sanju Samson & Ishan Kishan.
Karthik was given enough chances in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2022, but he was unable to leave his impact like he does in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
In all probability, Karthik won’t be part of the Indian team during the 2024 T20 World Cup, so the competition for the wicketkeeper-role now is among the other three – Pant, Samson and Kishan.
