Punjab Kings (PBKS) took on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 38th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on Friday (April 28). Notably, LSG registered an emphatic 56-run win in the contest.
Asked to bat first, Lucknow got off to a sensational start, with Kyle Mayers smashing 54 runs off 24 balls. At the same time, Marcus Stoinis and Ayush Badoni played crucial innings of 72 and 43 runs for their team. Nicholas Pooran also chipped in with quickfire 45 runs off 19 deliveries and powered LSG to a massive total of 257 runs for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Meanwhile, Kagiso Rabada was the most successful bowler for Punjab, taking two wickets for 52 runs.
In response, PBKS started poorly, losing Prabhsimran Singh and Shikhar Dhawan early. However, Atharva Taide played a fantastic knock of 66 runs off just 36 balls and kept his team alive in the hunt. Sikandar Raza also contributed 36 runs but failed to get Punjab across the line. On the other hand, Yash Thakur and Naveen-ul-Haq bowled excellent spells for LSG and played a significant role in bundling out PBKS on a score of 201 in 19.5 overs. While Yash picked up four wickets for LSG, Naveen-ul-Haq bagged three scalps.
Following the comprehensive 56-run win in Mohali, LSG took a dig at the Punjab-based franchise by posting a picture of Rabada’s dismissal on their official Twitter handle and tagging Punjab Police in the tweet.

It is noteworthy that a few days back, PBKS trolled Mumbai Indians (MI) in the same manner after defeating them on their home ground Wankhede Stadium. The Punjab-based side had posted the photo of broken stumps from the match, mentioning Mumbai Police in their tweet.

After LSG’s hilarious dig at PBKS, the fans of MI came out in support of the Lucknow-based franchise and hailed them for their sarcastic tweet, some even termed LSG as their second favourite team in the league for taking revenge for MI’s defeat from Punjab.
