Virat Kohli is one of the most stylish athletes and is well-known for his lavish lifestyle. He is also the world’s third richest cricketer and owns many luxurious cars, including Audi, BMW, Porsche, etc. In his recent interview, the former India captain opened up about his love for cars and revealed a hilarious reason behind his first car as well.

Speaking to Star Sports, Virat said that his first car was Safari which currently ranges from Rs 15.65 lakh to Rs 22.71 lakh, and the motivation behind him buying it wasn’t the features of the four-wheeler but something completely different.

“The first car that I bought with my own money was Safari. At that time, Safari used to be the car upon seeing which people used to clear the road on their own. That was the motivation behind buying the Safari, not how it runs or whether it has enough space or not,” said Kohli.

Earlier on the RCB podcast, Virat had also spoken up about selling most of his cars after a realization that buying them was just an impulsive decision and he hardly drove them later.

“Most of the cars I used to own were impulsive buys, I ended up hardly driving or travelling in them as well. Beyond a point, I was like this is pointless, so I ended up selling most of them and now we only use what we absolutely need to,” said the 34-year-old cricketer.

“I think it is also part of growing up and being more aware and mature about things as well. You don’t feel like owning ‘toys’ as such, it is about being practical,” he added.

Virat is currently representing Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, and he will next be seen in action on April 15 when the Bangalore-based franchise faces Delhi Capitals (DC) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Notably, RCB has just managed to win one game out of the three matches they have played in the league so far.
