In an exciting encounter at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) in Match 20 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. It was Delhi’s fifth consecutive loss in the ongoing 16th season of the cash-rich league.

Put in to bat, RCB’s top-order batters, Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis, got off to a decent start, putting on 46 runs for the first wicket. Kohli continued his good form and scored 50 runs off 34 balls with six fours and one six.

The middle-order batsmen, Mahipal Lomror and Glenn Maxwell, also made valuable contributions of 26 and 24 runs, respectively. Shahbaz Ahmed played a quick-fire knock of 20 runs off 12 balls, which helped RCB to set a challenging target of 175 runs for the loss of six wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

In response, Delhi Capitals started poorly, losing their first three wickets for just two runs on the board. Manish Pandey tried to hold the innings together and scored a gritty half-century, but the RCB bowlers were too good for the Capitals’ middle order.

Vijaykumar Vyshak was the pick of the bowlers for RCB, picking up three wickets for 20 runs in his four overs. Mohammed Siraj and Harshal Patel also picked up important wickets for RCB. Delhi Capitals could only manage to score 151 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their 20 overs, falling short by 23 runs.
