The third week of May 2023 marked the end of the Indian Premier League’s group stage, with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT) facing each other in the final league stage fixture of the ongoing tournament on Sunday (May 21). Notably, the week turned out to be an eventful one for both viewers and the league organisers as it gave them their four qualifiers.

Although the three spots were sealed in the first half of the last week, the fourth position was confirmed after the result of the RCB versus GT match. The Bangalore-based team lost the game against Gujarat and was eliminated from the IPL 2023. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians (MI) benefitted from RCB’s defeat and ended the group stage on the fourth spot.

Despite the elimination, RCB skipper Faf du Plessis still leads the Orange Cap chart with the most runs. However, Shubman Gill of GT is just 50 runs behind the Bangalore star, and the former still has two or three matches to play in the playoffs.
