Under the leadership of MS Dhoni, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) secured a dominant victory against Delhi Capitals (DC) in Match 67 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, earning a spot in the playoffs. With the crucial two points, CSK climbed to second place in the table and set up a Qualifier match against table toppers Gujarat Titans (GT) on May 23 in Chennai.

Notably, it is CSK’s 12th qualification for the playoffs in the history of the cash-rich league, and they will definitely aim for their fifth title to match the record held by Mumbai Indians (MI), who have won the championship five times.

Following CSK’s confirmation of a playoff spot, Dhoni and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja were spotted having an animated discussion. The exact reason for this exchange was unclear, but a video showed Jadeja reaching out to Dhoni to discuss something related to the game. Initially, Dhoni tried to calm Jadeja by placing a hand on his shoulder and began explaining a point. Jadeja reacted to his words, and Dhoni also became slightly animated during the conversation.

Here is the video:

Speaking about the match, CSK posted a humungous 223/3 on the board after opting to bat first. Openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway set the platform with a stunning 141 runs partnership. While Gaikwad smashed 79 off 50 balls, including 3 fours and 7 sixes, Conway scored 87 from 52 deliveries, featuring 11 fours and 3 maximums.

In response, the Capitals could only manage to reach 146/9, losing the contest by 77 runs. Captain David Warner was the lone warrior in DC’s chase as he ended up scoring 86 off 58 balls, with the help of 7 fours and 5 sixes.
