Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has been out of competitive cricket since December last year. He sustained injuries in a car accident near his hometown in Roorkee, Uttarakhand. Pant suffered two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee, and several other injuries.

In a recent update, Pant shared a video on social media platofrms showcasing his progress in the road to recovery. The video depicted him climbing stairs without any support, displaying his improvement from struggling with railings to confidently ascending the stairs.

“Not bad yaar Rishabh. Simple things can be difficult sometimes,” the Indian cricketer captioned it.

Here’s the video:

Pant is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore. Following the car accident, he underwent surgery in January to address the Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL) injury in his right knee. Since then, he has not participated in any matches.

During the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season, David Warner captained the Capitals in Pant’s absence. However, the team had a disappointing campaign, finishing ninth out of ten teams.

Pant made his first public appearance, after the injury, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium during a Capitals IPL match against the Gujarat Titans (GT) in April. His last on-field display was in the second Test against Bangladesh in December 2022, where he scored a fine knock of 93 in the first innings.

Pant’s absence was noticeable in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 final, where India suffered a 209-run defeat against Australia. He has been a crucial player for Team India, particularly in the red-ball format. His performances, including the memorable Test series win in Australia in 2021, have established him as an integral part of the team.

As of now, there is no official update on Pant’s comeback. Multiple media reports suggest that he may miss the Asia Cup and the 50-over World Cup, both scheduled for later this year. However, no official confirmation has been provided regarding his availability for these tournaments.
