In a significant update concerning the much-awaited return of star Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary, Jay Shah, has provided crucial insights into the premier fast bowler’s fitness and availability. Bumrah has been absent from competitive cricket since September last year, dealing with back issues that required surgical intervention.
Currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Stadium (NCA) in Bengaluru, Bumrah’s progress has been closely monitored. Shah, has confirmed that the talented right-arm pacer has regained full fitness and is poised to make his return to international cricket.
“Bumrah is completely fit, and he may be part of the Ireland series,” stated Shah, as quoted by Cricbuzz, assuring fans of the bowler’s readiness to join the Indian squad for the upcoming tour to Ireland.
Cricket Advisory Committee to appoint specialized coaches for Women’s team
Apart from the update on Bumrah’s availability, Shah also shed light on the Cricket Advisory Committee’s (CAC) plans to bolster the women’s team coaching setup. The CAC has identified the need for dedicated bowling and fielding coaches for the women’s team, recognizing the importance of specialized expertise in these areas.
Shah mentioned that the CAC has already conducted interviews for the head coach position, and now they are actively seeking specialized coaches for fielding and bowling. The appointments for all coaching positions, including the head coach, will be announced together, streamlining the selection process for the support staff of the women’s team.
“The CAC has already conducted interviews for the head coach position and is also looking for specialized coaches for fielding and bowling. The process for these appointments will be initiated soon,” Shah assured, emphasizing the board’s commitment to providing the women’s team with the best possible coaching setup to enhance their performance and achieve greater success on the international stage.
