The Asia Cup 2023 Super Four stage features four formidable cricketing nations: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. These teams have battled their way to this stage of the tournament, setting the stage for thrilling contests.

The Super Four segment comprises six matches, with one game scheduled to take place at Pakistan’s Gaddafi Stadium, while the other five will be hosted in the coastal city of Colombo, Sri Lanka. The Super Four fixtures are set to commence on September 6 and will culminate on September 15. In the initial group stage, India, Pakistan, and Nepal were in Group A, while Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan formed Group B.

India’s journey in the Asia Cup

India’s journey in the multi-national Cup began with an intense encounter against arch-rivals Pakistan. However, their first match was abandoned due to relentless rain, resulting in both teams sharing a point. In their second league game against Nepal, rain again played a role. Nepal posted 230 runs after being bowled out in 48 overs. Due to rain, India had a revised target of 145 runs in 23 overs, which they achieved without losing a wicket.

Pakistan’s dominance in the Asia Cup

Pakistan had a blazing start to the tournament, thrashing Nepal with an emphatic victory margin of 238 runs. Nevertheless, their second match against India faced the same fate as the first, being abandoned due to rain. Despite this, Pakistan maintained the upper hand against India for most of the game, keeping the Men in Blue’s top and lower orders in check. They secured their spot in the Super Four group by topping their group with three points from two games.

Bangladesh’s resilient path in the Asia Cup

Bangladesh’s Asia Cup journey began on a shaky note with a loss to co-hosts Sri Lanka by five wickets in their first encounter. Nevertheless, they made a strong comeback in their last group-stage game against Afghanistan. Bangladesh secured an impressive 89-run victory, powered by centuries from Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Najmul Hossain Shanto, securing their place in the Super Four stage.
