Australia’s star batter David Warner is gearing up for the ODI World Cup 2023 in India, and the chief selector, George Bailey, has shared insights into Warner’s impressive form ahead of the tournament.
Warner’s aggressive batting style has made him a prominent figure in limited-overs cricket, and he is set to play a pivotal role for Australia in the upcoming tournament, scheduled to commence on October 5 in India. Known for his ability to score runs quickly, Warner has consistently excelled at the top of Australia’s batting order.
Leading up to the mega event, Warner’s recent performances have highlighted his exceptional form. During the ODI series against India, he finished as Australia’s highest run-scorer with 161 runs at an impressive average of 53.67. Before their series against India, Australia toured South Africa for a 5-match ODI leg, where Warner continued to impress. He accumulated 206 runs at an average of 41.20, showcasing his consistency with the bat.

Bailey, the chief selector of the Australian cricket team, has provided his perspective on Warner’s peak form just before the global cricketing spectacle. Bailey expressed that it’s not surprising to see Warner in prime form as big players often rise to the occasion on significant platforms like the World Cup.
“Not just in the Australian team, but around the world, these are the tournaments that the best players build themselves up for and get excited about. That’s the ultimate challenge for them to not only prove how good they are individually but also to help their team get some really exciting success. So (I’m) not surprised that he’s hit the ground running over here with the enthusiasm that you’d expect from ‘Davey’ and playing really well,” said Bailey while talking to reporters ahead of Australia’s opening warm-up game in Thiruvananthapuram.
