The excitement for the upcoming Men’s One Day International (ODI) World Cup 2023 in India is reaching a fever pitch, with cricket fans eagerly anticipating the tournament’s start on October 5. As the demand for tickets continues to surge, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has responded by announcing the release of an additional 400,000 tickets for the global cricket extravaganza.

Meeting high demand of tickets

In a statement released on Wednesday evening, the BCCI acknowledged the overwhelming demand for tickets and outlined its plans to meet the needs of passionate cricket enthusiasts. The statement mentioned about the date from which the “general sale of tickets” for all World Cup matches would kick off but details about the subsequent phases of ticket sales were not provided.

Notably, the Indian cricket board had faced criticism from fans and other stakeholders for initially releasing the tournament schedule just 100 days ahead of the competition’s commencement and making subsequent changes, which delayed the ticket release further. The BCCI has now clarified that the board had engaged in discussions with state cricket associations to accommodate as many cricket fans as possible.
