In a significant announcement, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) unveiled India’s squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia. The revelation on Monday, September 18, brought about the return of veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin to the ODI squad. Ashwin’s inclusion marks his comeback to the 50-over format after his last appearance against South Africa in January 2022.

However, the team for the first two ODIs has seen some key senior players being rested, including the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

Earlier, on Sunday, Australia named their ODI squad for the India tour. Regular skipper Pat Cummins, Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Starc who did not participate in the limited-overs leg against the Proteas in South Africa have been recalled for the ODI series against India.
