Cricket fans around the world were eagerly awaiting the start of the 2023 edition of the Road Safety World Series, a cricketing extravaganza with a noble mission to promote road safety and prevent accidents. The tournament was scheduled to commence on September 23 and set to be hosted exclusively at the picturesque Uptonsteel County Ground, the home of Leicestershire County Cricket Club.

Leicestershire confirms postponement of Road Safety Series

However, the tournament has now postponed indefinitely. According to an official media release by Leicestershire County Cricket Club, the decision to postpone the tournament was taken due to logistical issues. It also said that the organizers will try to reschedule the tournament in 2024.

“The much-anticipated Road Safety World Series (RSWS) UK, originally scheduled at Uptonsteel County Ground, Leicester, from September 23rd to October 1st, 2023, has regrettably been postponed indefinitely. The decision comes as a result of unforeseen logistical issues. The organizers are actively working on rescheduling the tournament for the following year. Further updates regarding the Road Safety World Series UK 2024, will be communicated in due course. The Road Safety World Series (RSWS) UK extends gratitude to all our esteemed partners for their support. We will be announcing further updates as we prepare to unveil details of the tournament,” read a statement issued by Leicestershire County Cricket Club.

Notably, the Road Safety World Series brings together cricketing legends from various nations, all united in their commitment to support the crucial cause of road safety. This year’s edition, which is now postponed, would see India, England, Pakistan, Australia, and Sri Lanka while Pakistan were making their debut.
