Often referred to as ‘Dada’, Ganguly’s impact on Indian cricket cannot be overstated. He is often credited with transforming the Indian cricket team into a formidable force on the international stage. Ganguly played a crucial role in nurturing and grooming young talents like Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, MS Dhoni and many others who went on to become legends in their own right. He also served as the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in recent times, where he continued to shape the future of Indian cricket in administrative roles.

Ganguly’s illustrious cricketing career is studded with notable achievements, including leading the Indian cricket team to the final of the ICC ODI World Cup in 2003, amassing over 18,000 runs in international cricket, orchestrating the historic Natwest series win, securing a memorable victory in the Sydney Test against Australia, guiding the team to back-to-back finals in the ICC Champions Trophy.

Sourav Ganguly’s favorite moment from his 16 year cricketing career

While Ganguly has been associated with numerous iconic moments in his cricketing career, he recently revealed his personal favourite during a chat show on the DreamSetGo YouTube channel. Surprisingly, Ganguly didn’t choose the Natwest 2002 final, where he took off his shirt to celebrate India’s victory and instead picked his debut Test match at the Lord’s to be the moment he would want to relive.

It is worth mentioning that Ganguly made his Test debut against England and played an innings that would forever be etched in the annals of cricketing history. He scored a brilliant century, with an innings of 131 runs in the match.

Sourav Ganguly’s life on the personal front

Recently, Ganguly was seen at his daughter Sana’s convocation ceremony as she completed her graduation in Economics from the University College London. He attended the ceremony alongside his wife and is currently enjoying quality time with family in London.
