Wellalage (5/40) and Charith Asalanka (4/18) were the chief destructors for Sri Lanka with the ball, while Maheesh Theekshana bagged the remaining scalp. It is worth mentioning that it marked the tenth instance in ODI history where spinners had taken all 10 wickets in an innings. Meanwhile, this was the first time that occurred against the India.

It all happened on the second ball of the 35th over when Asalanka produced a full, tempting outside-off delivery to Kishan, enticing him to go for the big shot over cover. What followed was nothing short of cricketing magic as Wellalage plucked the ball out of the sky, defying the odds and leaping into the air with both hands outstretched. The effort from Wellalage left the spectators in awe of his athletic ability and impeccable timing.
