CWC 2023 [WATCH]: Shoriful Islam sends stumps flying as he castles Liam Livingstone with an absolute ripper during ENG vs BAN clash

Shoriful Islam delivered a dream ball to dismiss Liam Livingstone for a golden duck in the ODI World Cup 2023 match between England and Bangladesh at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala on Tuesday, October 10.

In the final ball of the 42nd over, Shoriful bowled an off-cutter, delivering it with pinpoint precision. The ball landed right on the money, hitting the top of off-stump. Livingstone, perhaps caught off guard by the crafty delivery, made an uncertain poke down the wrong line. As he completed his shot, he turned back to see his stumps in disarray. The off-cutter had breached his defenses, toppling the off-stump and sending the bails flying.

Intriguing cricket clash at Dharamsala

In this thrilling encounter, Bangladesh’s captain Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and elected to field first. England’s opening pair, Jonny Bairstow and Dawid Malan, provided a scintillating start to their side, amassing a quickfire 115 runs for the first wicket in just 15 overs. Their partnership was setting a strong foundation for England’s innings.

However, Shakib  had other plans; he provided the much-needed breakthrough to his team by dismissing Bairstow, disrupting England’s early dominance. Despite this setback, Malan continued to pile on the runs and eventually reached his century. Adding to England’s advantage, he formed a vital partnership of 151 runs for the third wicket with the seasoned campaigner, Joe Root.

Just when it seemed that England was firmly in control, Bangladesh’s bowlers made a remarkable comeback. They dismantled England’s middle order by picking up key wickets, including those of Malan, Root and captain Jos Buttler. These dismissals caused England to lose their grip on the game, eventually resulting in them posting 364/9 on the board.
