The 29th match of the ODI World Cup 2023 saw India register their sixth consecutive win in the tournament as they defeated England by a massive margin of 100 runs. Although the Men in Blue’s performance was marked by some brilliant individual performances, star India batter Virat Kohli failed to contribute much and was dismissed for a nine-ball duck.

Virat’s poor outing soon became a major talking point on the internet and was subject to mixed reactions. While some shared disappointment over the rare failure, some even went on to troll him through memes.

The Barmy Army’s trolling of Virat Kohli

Among those who joined the trolling brigade was England’s passionate fan group, the Barmy Army. They wasted no time in taking a dig at Kohli, sharing an edited image of the Indian captain’s face superimposed on a duck swimming in a lake with a witty caption that read, “Just out for a morning walk.” The post quickly went viral, and Indian fans were left fuming.

However, as cricketing fate would have it, the tables turned dramatically during the second innings when England’s star batter, Joe Root, also departed without opening his account. The unexpected twist provided the Team India fans with a perfect opportunity to strike back, and the passionate Indian fan group Bharat Army came up with a savage reply to Barmy Army’s trolling of Kohli.

The Bharat Army’s savage response

The Bharat Army retaliated by sharing the very same image of the ducks, this time with Root’s face superimposed on one of them. The clever caption read, “Just out for an evening walk.” It was a humorous and perfectly timed response that had cricket fans from both sides entertained.

Parthiv Patel joins the banter

The banter didn’t stop there as India’s former opening batter, Parthiv Patel, couldn’t resist getting in on the action as well. He decided to take a jab at the entire England team by reposting Barmy Army’s initial post and writing, “12th november… fastest way to reach london..air india will take care…”
