When it comes to his cricketing idol while growing up, Gill looked up to the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, one of the most iconic figures in the history of the sport. Gill’s admiration for these two cricketing giants showcases the impact they’ve had on his development as a player.
“My current favorite cricketer is Virat bhai. My cricketing idol while I was growing up was Sachin Sir,” Gill said.

“The reason behind getting the jersey number 77 was that, during the U-19 World Cup, I wanted the no. 7 but it wasn’t available, so I took two 7s,” the Fazilka-born cricketer concluded.
