The countdown to the much-anticipated seventeenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has reached a fever pitch as fans gear up for the thrilling players’ auction of the event scheduled to take place at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai on December 19. With 333 players vying for a spot, the stage is set for a high-stakes bidding war featuring a mix of seasoned international stars and promising homegrown talents.

Player demographics: A diverse mix

Among the 333 players in the auction pool, 214 are Indian players, and 119 are international talents, including two from associate nations. Moreover, 116 cricketers in the pool are capped players, while 215 are uncapped players, with two players from associate nations.

Auction dynamics

As the franchises enter the IPL 2024 auction following the meticulous retention and trade process, a total of 77 slots are up for grabs, with 30 reserved for overseas players. The highest reserve price stands at INR 2 crores, with 23 players opting for this top bracket, while 13 players have set their base price at INR 1.5 crores.
