In anticipation of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has finalized the list of players set to go under the hammer in the much-anticipated auction. This year, the auction pool has been streamlined, with a total of 333 players shortlisted from an initial pool of 1166.

Among the selected players, 214 hail from India, while 119 players represent overseas talent, including two individuals from associate countries. The trimmed list promises a thrilling auction as franchises look to strengthen their squads for the upcoming season.

The auction, set to kick off in an overseas location for the first time, specifically in Dubai, is scheduled to commence at 2.30 pm IST (1 pm local time) on December 19. The unique setting adds an extra layer of excitement to the event, setting the stage for an intense bidding war among the franchises.

The auction will follow a structured sequence, starting with capped players. The initial focus will be on batters, followed by all-rounders, wicketkeepers, fast bowlers, and spinners, maintaining a systematic order throughout. The same sequence will be replicated for the uncapped players, ensuring a fair and organized approach to the auction process.

The highest reserve price set for the auction is INR 2 crore, attracting bids for 23 exceptional players. Notable names in this category include Travis Head and Harshal Patel, promising an intense battle for their services. Following closely, 13 players find themselves in the INR 1.5 crore base price category, showcasing the depth of talent available.

Another 14 cricketers have set their base price at INR 1 crore, further adding to the competitive landscape of the auction. With such a diverse range of players and bidding categories, the IPL 2024 auction promises to be a riveting affair, setting the stage for an electrifying season of cricket ahead.
