Cricket enthusiasts around the globe are gearing up for the much-anticipated IPL 2024 Auction, set to unfold at Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena on December 19. The high-stakes bidding event will witness all ten franchises battling it out to secure the best cricketing talents for the upcoming season.
A star-studded list
The IPL 2024 Auction boasts a star-studded lineup of 333 players, featuring a captivating mix of 119 seasoned international stars and 201 promising homegrown talents. As the franchises enter the auction following a meticulous retention and trade process, a total of 77 slots are up for grabs, with 30 reserved for overseas players.
Players at every tier
The auction will see players categorized based on their reserve prices, ranging from a high of INR 2 crores to a base price of INR 20 lakhs. Among the 333 players registered, 23 are enrolled with the highest reserve price, while 206 players find themselves under the lowest category of 20 lakhs.
Strategic approach of franchises and player division
With limited slots and a diverse pool of players, all the franchises are gearing up to strategically approach the auction. The challenge lies in identifying and acquiring the best talents to strengthen their squads.
The players have been divided into 19 different sets based on their specialization, including batters, all-rounders, fast bowlers, spinners, and wicketkeepers. Capped and uncapped players will alternate after a few sets, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the bidding process.

The auctioneer for this thrilling bidding event will be Mallika Sagar, who recently showcased her skills as the host of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction on December 9.
