Delhi Capitals (DC) have made strategic decisions in retaining 16 players from their existing squad for the upcoming IPL 2024 Auction, scheduled to be held in Dubai on December 19. Among the retained players is star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who has been on the road to recovery after a serious accident on New Year’s eve last year, resulting in multiple injuries.
The decision to retain Pant reflects the franchise’s confidence in his abilities, considering his prowess with the bat and skills behind the stumps. However, reports suggest that Pant will resume his wicket-keeping duties only upon receiving approval from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). In case BCCI recommends caution, Pant might be restricted to fielding and batting.
It is anticipated that the Delhi-based franchise will utilize Pant as an impact player, emphasizing his role as a dynamic and influential force in the team.
