The intense altercation between two accomplished former Indian cricketers, Gautam Gambhir and Sreesanth, during the Legends League Cricket (LLC) 2023 Eliminator match between India Capitals and Gujarat Giants at Surat’s Lalbhai Contractor Stadium on Wednesday, December 6 has become a major talking point.

In the midst of this heated exchange, the seasoned fast bowler accused the Gambhir of branding him a ‘fixer’, prompting umpires to step in and separate the agitated players. The verbal skirmish didn’t conclude on the field but spilled over onto social media

Now a recent report from the Free Press Journal indicates that the LLC Commissioner issued a legal notice to Sreesanth following his allegations against the Gambhir. The notice asserts that the former India pacer violated the league’s code of conduct, and discussions with Sreesanth are contingent on him removing the contentious video where he accused his ex-teammate of labeling him a ‘fixer’ during the LLC 2023 Eliminator. Despite the umpires submitting their report on the Sreesanth-Gautam controversy, it made no mention of the former’s claim of being called a fixer.

Investigation Initiated: LLC examines code violations

In response to this contentious situation, Legends League Cricket’s Code of Conduct and Ethics Committee head, Syed Kirmani, has initiated an internal investigation. Kirmani aims to address both on-field and off-field misconduct, including social media activities that may have contravened the league’s established rules.

“Legends League Cricket strives to uphold the spirit of cricket and sportsmanship and will conduct an internal investigation on the violation of the code of conduct. Any misconduct that has occurred both on and off the field including on social media platforms will be dealt with strictly,” Kirmani added.

“The code of conduct has clearly stated that necessary action will be taken against players that bring disrepute to the league, the spirit of the game and the teams that they are representing. We make our stand very clear and continue to work towards sharing the game with millions of cricketing lovers across the nation and world,” the 73-year-old concluded.
