In a thrilling encounter at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, India emerged victorious against Australia in the 4th match of the Australia tour of India 2023. With that the hosts also clinched the series and taken an unassailable lead of 3-1 in the five-match leg.

Rinku Singh powers India to a competitive total

India’s batting display yielded a total of 174/9 in 20 overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad provided a solid start, scoring 37 and 32 runs, respectively. Rinku Singh‘s explosive 46 off 29 balls, along with Jitesh Sharma‘s quick 35 off 19, boosted India’s innings. However, Ben Dwarshuis and Jason Behrendorff were key for Australia, claiming three wickets each, restricting India to a challenging but manageable total.

Axar Patel wreaked havoc as India seal series

Australia, in response, faced a target of 175 runs. Despite Travis Head‘s aggressive 31 off 16 balls and Matthew Wade’s impressive 36 off 23, India’s bowlers-maintained control. Axar Patel emerged as the star with the ball, taking three crucial wickets for just 16 runs in his four overs. Deepak Chahar, Ravi Bishnoi, and Avesh Khan also contributed with wickets, securing their team’s grip on the match.

In the end, Australia could only muster 154/7 in their 20 overs, falling short by 20 runs. India’s comprehensive bowling effort and Axar’s stellar performance earned them a series-clinching victory in the 4th T20I, showcasing their dominance in the Australia tour of India 2023.
