The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has set the stage for an exhilarating three-match T20I series against India, scheduled to kick off on January 11 in Mohali. In a significant development, the ACB has announced a formidable 19-member squad, brimming with talent and experience, aimed at making a statement on the international cricket stage.

One of the notable inclusions in the squad is the return of the skilled spinner, Mujeeb ur Rahman, adding a potent dimension to Afghanistan’s bowling arsenal.

Mujeeb ur Rahman’s comeback

The announcement of the squad marks the return of Mujeeb, a pivotal figure in Afghanistan’s cricketing journey. His unique spin variations and ability to pick up crucial wickets make him a valuable asset for the team. The ACB’s decision to bring him back adds depth and experience to the squad, providing a boost ahead of the challenging series.

Rashid Khan’s uncertain participation

Afghanistan’s regular T20I captain, Rashid Khan, has been included in the squad, but his participation remains uncertain. Currently recovering from a recent back surgery, Rashid Khan might not feature in any of the games. This puts the spotlight on other senior players to step up and lead the team in his absence.

Ibrahim Zadran to continue captaincy

After successfully leading Afghanistan to a 2-1 series victory against the UAE in Sharjah, Ibrahim Zadran will continue to captain the side against India. His leadership skills and ability to inspire the team were evident in the previous series, and the ACB has shown confidence in his captaincy for this crucial assignment.
