Batting first in the match, RCB got positive results in the first innings as a blazing half-century from Rajat Patidar (50 off 26) and a late blitz by Dinesh Karthik (53 off 23) propelled them to a commanding total of 196. Earlier, a steady knock by Faf du Plessis (61 off 40) set the tone for a big score.

MI, in response, started their innings with a bang and built 101 runs opening partnership in which Ishan Kishan scored 69 runs off just 34 balls. MI won this match comfortably by seven wickets, with Rohit Sharma scoring 38 off 24 balls, Suryakumar Yadav scoring 52 off 19 balls and the concluding innings of Hardik Pandya (21 off 6) and Tilak Varma (16 off 10). MI dominated this match both with the bat and the ball as the star pacer Jasprit Bumrah took a 5-wicket haul, conceding only 21 runs in 4 overs.

Though this match included many remarkable moments, the extraordinary catch of RCB bowler Reece Topley grabbed fans’ attention the most and overshadowed all the other incidents.

When Will Jacks came to bowl the 11th over of the match, Rohit was looking in good touch and hit a four on the very first ball of the over; boosted with this boundary, Rohit went for a sweep shot on the next ball, only to be caught by Reece at short fine leg.

Reece grabbed the ball by jumping high in the air and caught the ball with his left hand, leaving everyone shocked.
