India dominates Sri Lanka in rain-reduced thriller
Meanwhile, on the cricket field, India continued their dominance over Sri Lanka, clinching the second T20I by a comprehensive seven wickets via the DLS method. Rain played spoilsport after Sri Lanka managed to post a modest total of 161/9 in their allotted 20 overs, with Kusal Perera top-scoring with 53 runs. Ravi Bishnoi was the pick of the Indian bowlers, claiming three wickets for 26 runs.
The Indian chase was cut short due to rain, but the Men in Blue made light work of the revised target of 81 runs in 6.3 overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal (30), Suryakumar (26), and Hardik Pandya (22*) played cameos to guide their team to a convincing victory. This win has given India an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
India eye clean sweep in Sri Lanka
With the T20I series already in the bag, India will now shift its focus to the three-match ODI series. The first ODI is scheduled to be played on August 2 at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. The Rohit Sharma-led side will be looking to carry their winning momentum into the longer format and complete a clean sweep of the tour.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, will be eager to salvage some pride and avoid a whitewash. They will be hoping for improved performances from their batting and bowling units to challenge the formidable Indian side.
The ODI series promises to be an exciting contest between two teams with contrasting strengths. While India boast a strong batting lineup and experienced bowling attack, Sri Lanka possess some talented players who can upset the applecart on their day.
