Bollywood actress Mrunal Thakur has reacted strongly to a recent resurfacing of her old statement about being “madly in love” with team India batting maestro Virat Kohli. The actress, who is currently promoting her upcoming films, took to social media to express her displeasure at media portals reviving the topic.
Mrunal Thakur’s statement about Virat Kohli resurfaces
In a past interview with Etimes while promoting her film ‘Jersey,’ Mrunal had opened up about her fondness for Virat. She stated, “There was a time when I was madly in love with Virat Kohli. I started liking cricket because of my brother who’s a big fan. I have fond memories of watching a match live at a stadium with him around five years ago. I remember I was wearing a blue jersey and cheering for team India.”
The sports drama Jersey, which also starred Shahid Kapoor, revolved around the world of cricket. Mrunal’s statement about Kohli was seen as an interesting coincidence at the time.

Mrunal slams the media outlet
Recently, a popular entertainment website, Instant Bollywood, shared a snippet of Mrunal’s old interview on its Instagram account, reigniting discussions about her statement. As social media users began commenting on the post, the actress intervened and asked the account to stop sharing the content.
In a direct comment on the post, Mrunal wrote, “@instantbollywood STOP IT OK.” Her reaction suggests that she is no longer comfortable with the topic being brought up again, especially in the context of her current projects and promotional activities.
On the work front, Mrunal has several exciting projects lined up. She was last seen in the film ‘Family Star’ alongside Vijay Deverakonda, which received a lukewarm response from audiences. The actress also had a cameo appearance in ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, featuring a stellar cast including Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas and Deepika Padukone.
