CWC 2019: Sachin Tendulkar picks his World Cup XI, Virat not the captain

After the conclusion of the ICC World Cup 2019, MasterBlaster Sachin Tendulkar selects his favorite World Cup XI.

Sachin picked New Zealand’s skipper Kane Williamson over Virat Kohli to lead the side. Williamson was awarded the ‘Man of the Series’ for his brilliant performance in the tournament. He was the 4th highest run-scorer in the World Cup, scoring a total of 578 runs.

For the opening pair, ‘God of Cricket’ chose Indian vice-captain Rohit Sharma and English batsman Jonny Bairstow. Rohit was exceptional with his form, scoring 5 centuries (648 runs) in the tournament. In the latest ICC’s ODI rankings, Rohit jumped to the 2nd spot after Indian captain Virat Kohli.

Jonny Bairstow was picked as the preferred wicket-keeper, with MS Dhoni not finding a spot in the list.

The Playing XI also comprises of 4 all-rounders, namely, Shakib Al Hasan, Ben Stokes, Hardik Pandya, and Ravindra Jadeja. Jadeja played an outstanding knock in the semi-final match against New Zealand.

The pace department is led by World No. 1 bowler Jasprit Bumrah along with Mitchell Starc and Jofra Archer.
